Ground-breaking ceremony for Fisher House at Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, in partnership with American charity Fisher House Foundation and UK charity Help for Heroes, held its official ground-breaking ceremony on Monday 23rd April, to begin construction of the new Fisher House facility at the Hospital.

The new facility will support the UK's military patients and their families. Fisher House will be a 'home from home' where wounded troops can spend time away from the ward with their families, friends and colleagues.

The three charity partners, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Help for Heroes and the Fisher House Foundation hosted the ceremony, which was attended by many local dignitaries and guests of honour, HRH the Duke of Gloucester, and US talk show host Montel Williams.

Birmingham-based Arcadis, a leading provider of project and cost management services, is managing this important local project, and has worked with the charity and project team to formulate a detailed delivery programme for the facility to ensure that the project can be completed on time and on budget. Arcadis will continue to manage the project until completion, which is scheduled for early 2013.
