FCC to appoint Benita Ferrero-Waldner as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Alpine Holding GmbH

Spanish contracting giant FCC continues to strengthen its internationalisation strategy, this time at Alpine, the company's subsidiary in Central and Eastern Europe. Benita Ferrero-Waldner will be appointed chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Alpine Holding GmbH, headquartered in Salzburg, at the next board meeting, following the Shareholders Meeting which will approve the 2011 financial statements.

Ferrero-Waldner will replace Dietmar Aluta, who FCC maintained as chairman of the supervisory board when it acquired Alpine in mid-2006. Dietmar Aluta will assist Ferrero-Waldner, who is currently a member of the Supervisory Board. This appointment comes weeks after Johannes Dotter was appointed managing director of Alpine.

Ferrero-Waldner, who is a native of Salzburg (Austria) and holds a PhD in Law, was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Alpine Holding GmbH in January 2011. She was formerly European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, finally, for Trade. She was formerly Austria's Minister for Foreign Affairs, candidate for the Presidency of Austria in 2004, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Aid, Head of Protocol at the UN and a career diplomat for Austria.

In the private sector, Ferrero-Waldner is currently a director of MunichRe, one of the world's leading reinsurance companies, and a trustee of the Principe de Girona Foundation and FRIDE (Foundation for International Relations and Dialogue).
