Maintenance works on a 120 m high chimney

For a project in Italy, SAFI was commissioned to provide platforms for maintenance works on a 120 m high chimney. The user had to work on the entire circumference of the chimney over its full height, despite the presence of two horizontal smokestacks that hampered the free run of the platforms. In addition, the platforms had to work very closely to the chimney wall and follow its inclination. Passing over these smokestacks (20 m above ground) was made possible by the use of an angular mobile system developed by SAFI.

SAFI deployed SCAF 2000 S mast climbers with specially adapted angular sections on the working deck. The platforms were assembled in a way that allowed them to step over the top of the smokestacks while climbing-down. A SAFI JUNIOR MC-PC hoist was installed to take workers and equipment from the ground to the platform decks.

This solution was easy and quick to assemble on site, and created a super-safe working environment for the workers, all the way up to the 120 m height. The platforms were erected by SAFI's highly trained technicians.
