Major architectural projects unveiled at MIPIM

Real estate professionals will be able to examine plans for whole cities and urban neighbourhoods from around the world at MIPIM this year. These large-scale projects will be showcased in a single venue to attract investors and international users.

The projects showcased at MIPIM include:

East Village, United Kingdom

Situated on the doorstep of The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the East Village, London E20 by Qatari Diar Real Estate Development Company is the first leading legacy neighborhood for London. The exciting new neighborhood will initially deliver 2, 818 new homes, ready for residents in 2013. In addition to 1, 439 private homes mainly available to rent, there will be 1, 379 affordable homes for rent or sale. Combining inspiring design by a number of the world's leading architects, East Village is set to provide more accessibility, space, security and world-class facilities than any other London residential development. The vibrant project is being carried out by QDD; a joint venture between Qatari Diar and Delancey, and Triathlon Homes.

Europa City, France

Europa City is an unseen project that will provide a mix of commercial, cultural, leisure and hotel facilities. A broad range of cultural facilities will comprise a contemporary circus, concert halls, a large hall for art exhibitions, a space dedicated to gastronomy and a residence for young designers. This 80-hectare project will be a new hub for economic, social and cultural dynamism in the north-east of the Greater Paris region and Grand Roissy. The project has been developed by Groupe Auchan and masterminded by its real estate business Immochan. The urban and architectural planning involves multi-disciplinary teams (urban planners, landscape architects and sustainability experts) headed by Manuelle Gautrand (Paris), Snohetta (Oslo), Valode et Pistre (Paris) and the Bjarke Ingels Group (Copenhagen). Models of their work will be exhibited publicly for the first time at MIPIM.

Skolkovo City, Federation of Russia

The Skolkovo project is almost a city within a city, a master-planned community covering 400 hectares and designed to meet every need, from business to education, from research to residential. Nearby housing and open spaces allow for easy commutes in an environmentally friendly development that encourages walking and bicycling. Skolkovo's proximity to Moscow via road and public transport will allow for a reduction in emissions and an increase in employee efficiency as researchers and entrepreneurs travel between the two regions.

Primanti, India

Primanti is a new residential district in Gurgaon, an Indian city to the southeast of New Delhi that has one of the highest rates of growth and development in the country. Designed by the international architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and developed by Tata Housing Development Company Ltd, it will offer a new lifestyle with 1,060 housing units spread over a set of distinct areas including parks and urban spaces and amenities such as club houses, swimming pools, tennis courts and schools, creating a rich urban experience and a strong sense of community. The variety of sizes and textures of the buildings helps create a balanced urban fabric that offers four housing solutions: luxury apartments, tower blocks, villas and individual floors, with something for every budget and family structure. Designed to specifications laid down by the Indian Council for Green Building, the project delivers environmental solutions suited to the local climate of wide variations in temperature and strong sunlight.
