| Ramboll investigates use of biofuel for civil aviation in Norway Ramboll Energy and Ramboll in Norway's Climate Department in Oslo have been appointed by the Norwegian airport operator, Avinor, to investigate the possibilities of utilising sustainable and profitable biofuel for civil aviation in Norway. The investigation of possibilities of utilising sustainable and profitable biofuel for aviation will benefit the airline companies as well as the norweigan population. Avinor is seeking to stabilise and reduce climate gas emissions from Norwegian aviation despite anticipated traffic volume growth. The replacement of fossil fuels with sustainable biofuels, in conjunction with the introduction of energy efficient engines and newer airplanes, will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions considerably. The entire chain of production from bio feedstocks to establishing biofuel production plants in Norway needs to be defined following a thorough review of different technologies. The project will focus on sustainable production and resources not competing with food production. The initial priority is the development of certified drop-in biofuels that comply with the stringent requirements for jet fuel. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Construction News :: home page |
