Lafarge announces plan to clean up along the Illinois River

Lafarge North America, along with the national organization Living Lands and Water, recently partnered to sponsor a clean up along the Illinois River, near Lafarge's Joliet and Aux Sable Quarries at Big Basin Marina (I-55 and Front Road) in Channonhon, Illinois. Volunteers for the cleanup included Lafarge employees and their families, and employees from Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc, a consulting group that has assisted Lafarge with several environmental projects.

The event attracted more than 25 volunteers, who collected 19 tires and four full dumpsters of trash. Prizes were presented in seven categories, including most unusual piece of trash and largest piece of trash. As an example, the most unusual piece of trash was a model of intestines and the largest piece of trash was a refrigerator door.
