Ramboll secures contracts for road condition surveys

The condition of the roads needs to be continuously monitored and maintained to secure a high level of safety, quality and efficiency. The Road Survey Unit (RST) in Danish engineering company Ramboll carries out surveys on the standard of roads of some 70,000 kilometres every year. The unit has just won two large projects in Sweden and Russia.

Using Laser RST, Ramboll will be surveying some 10,000 kilometres of road in Sweden every year over a period of four years. The data will be used by the Swedish Road Administration for maintenance planning and budgeting. The contract value is approximately EUR 1.8 million.

In successful cooperation with colleagues in Russia, Ramboll has been selected as supplier of a system for road condition survey (Laser RST) to the city of St. Petersburg. During 2008 and 2010 Ramboll has supplied St. Petersburg with road surveys and the city has now seen the benefits of using RST data in their maintenance planning. This has lead to the decision to buy a Laser RST system for continuous data collection in the city. The system will be delivered at the end of November 2010 and Ramboll will supply training and technical support as part of the implementation. The order value is approximately EUR 480,000.
