Zumtobel Group lights up pavilions at Expo 2010

Austria-based lighting giant Zumtobel Group and its brands are represented at Expo 2010, which is being staged in Shanghai / China from 1 May to 31 October 2010. Products and lighting expertise from the Zumtobel, Thorn and Tridonic brands are helping to light up the event.

The Zumtobel brand is supporting the "Displacer" installation by Austrian artist Friedrich Biedermann in the Austrian pavilion at the Shanghai Expo. Zumtobel provided the light engines and optics required for the installation and played a consulting role in its realisation. In addition, the public areas of the Austrian pavilion feature white Cardan-Spirit downlights from Zumtobel. Elsewhere, the brand also provided a range of different luminaires (spotlights, downlights, surface-mounted and pendant luminaires) for the pavilion of the Rhône-Alpes region of France.

Thorn and Tridonic are illuminating the Chinese pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The host nation's pavilion, also known as the Crown of the East, is the main landmark structure of the Shanghai event. An ideally matched blend of Tridonic ballasts, ignitors and capacitors was used to generate the typical "China Red" colour of light, while the UK-based Thorn brand provided some 2,000 luminaires for the pavilion, including wall-washers, downlights and floodlights, equipped with Tridonic ballasts. Thorn Shanghai and Tridonic Shanghai worked hand-in-hand to realise this prestigious project.
