Balfour Beatty, a London-based construction, engineering, military housing, rail and investment services company, announces that it has been awarded the initial scheme of the £95 million Hartlepool Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme by Hartlepool Borough Council.

The Hartlepool BSF programme involves the rebuilding and replacement of six schools over the next five years. Construction of the initial sample school, Dyke House Sports and Technology College, will begin this summer with completion by Christmas 2011.

The other schemes within the Hartlepool BSF programme include building, refurbishing or remodelling Catcote Business and Enterprise College (SEN), Manor College of Technology, High Tunstall College of Science, and English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College with a new pupil referral unit.
