Turner names National Director of Lean Building

Turner Construction Company, the US' leading general builder, announced James P. Barrett has been promoted to the National Director of Lean Building for the firm. In his role, Barrett will drive the adoption of Lean processes on Turner projects, including the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies.

Turner has seen tremendous growth in our implementation of BIM across the country. In the past year alone, the firm has nearly doubled the number of BIM projects to 180 in total, representing more than $28 billion in construction volume. Turner's accelerating adoption of BIM is an acknowledgement that it has matured as a proven tool that can deliver tangible benefits to our projects and our clients. In addition, Turner has seen growing interest within the company and the industry in the application of Lean / Six Sigma principles to the design and construction process. Individually, both Lean and BIM can be effective but together they complement and enhance each other to further strengthen Turner's core competencies as a builder and as a supply chain services provider.
