SNC-Lavalin, Canada's biggest engineering firm, announced that the Conseil général de la Manche (Lower Normandy Region) has awarded SNC-Lavalin a Délégation de Service Public (Public service operating concession contract), for the Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport, for a six-year period. The contract covers the airport landing strip operation, infrastructure and site maintenance, as well as commercial development of the airport, which is currently dedicated to general aviation, business aviation, and charter and tourist flights during the summer season.

Cherbourg is the 6th airport to join the SNC-Lavalin Airports network, after Malta, Paris-Vatry, Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées with traffic exceeding 500,000 passengers per year, and the Vannes (Brittany) and Chalon-sur-Saône (Burgundy) airfields that serve business, leisure and tourism aviation.
