Finland's Pöyry awarded urban development project in Burkina Faso

The Millennium Challenge Account, Burkina Faso has awarded Pöyry the design contract for implementation of 17 communal buildings in towns throughout the country as well as improvements to market infrastructure for nine market sites in south-western and north-western Burkina Faso. The value of the contract is about EUR 3.0 million and includes options for additionally 30 communal building sites as well as construction supervision works for all construction sites.

Pöyry will complete the study and design phase by September 2011. The design services will begin with socioeconomic planning studies for the market sites. Feasibility studies will be carried out as well as environmental impact assessments and resettlement action plans following relevant national legislation and international guidelines for all sites. The final infrastructure design will assure that the needs of beneficiary communities are fully taken into account.
