Dutch BAM wins contract for railway viaduct in Luxembourg

Galère (operating companies of Royal BAM Group nv) – has been awarded a joint-venture contract for the construction of the new Pulvermühle railway viaduct in the City of Luxembourg. The project value amounts to €56 million, of which €22 million for BAM. Client is the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL). The construction period will be approximately six years.

The new truss viaduct - designed by Leonardt, Andrä und Partner from Stuttgart and TR-Engineering from Luxembourg - is approximately 250 metres long and 32 metres high. It is located next to a railway viaduct dating from 1859 across Alzette River. The new viaduct will make it possible to double the two railway tracks north of Luxembourg Station.
