Essen-based Hochtief as sponsor partner of RUHR.2010 GmbH has taken on the technical management of RUHR.2010 - Cultural Capital of Europe. Employees of the group will provide the technical support to a large number of events in the metropolitan region at no cost.

The event engineers of Hochtief Facility Management already started work for RUHR.2010 GmbH and will continue on the job to the end of 2010. In this period, they are responsible for the technical planning of events, act as contacts for organizers and artists and deploy their expertise in implementing large projects, including the opening event at Zeche Zollverein on January 9 and the "Still-Leben Ruhrschnellweg" event on the A40 highway on July 18.

In certain projects the Essen-based provider of construction services is supporting the organizers directly. For example, Hochtief Construction apprentices laid the foundations of the "Paper House" project at Zeche Zollverein, Hochtief additionally provided financial support for this project. The exhibition of the model which won the "mobile working spaces" architecture award is part of the Cultural Capital of Europe program. Hochtief Construction will also set up the construction site and carry out the earth and reinforced concrete works for a medieval motte which is part of the RUHR.2010 "Aufruhr! Anno 1225" project in Herne. In addition, Hochtief is providing RUHR.2010 GmbH office space for its work at no charge.
