Toluca Airport named Latin America's 'best'

The Latin Amerincan Air Transport Association (ALTA) has awarded Toluca International Airport (AIT) the Rolim Amaro award, which recognises the airport as the best in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2009. Toluca Internation Airport is managed by AMAIT, a Mexican company which has shares owned by Spanish construction firm OHL's concessions division, OHL Concessions.

The prize was presented during the ALTA Airline Leaders Conference, the most important meeting in the Latin American and Caribbean commercial aviation industry, which was celebrated this year in Cartagena, Columbia, on October 15 and 16.

It is the first time that the prize, which bears the name of the Brazillian aviation leader, Captain Rolim Amaro, has been awarded to a Mexican Airport. It is recognition of the effort made by Toluca International Airport to provide the airlines with excellent service.

Toluca International Airport is the alternative airport in the metropolitan zone in the country's capital, facing the imminent saturation of Mexico City International Airport. OHL, with 49%, is the main shareholder in AMAIT, the airport's concessionary company; the State of Mexico and the federal government also own shares, 26% and 25% respectively.
