Aqualia to manage water supply in Lepe (Huelva)

The city government of Lepe (Huelva, Spain) has awarded a 25-year contract to manage the city's water supply and sewage to FCC subsidiary Aqualia, which is specialised in end-to-end water management. The contract represents a backlog of 119 million euro. The contract also includes managing a number of wastewater and drinking water pumping stations in the city.

A number of improvements are envisaged to the water supply and sewer networks during the contract term, such as sectoral segmentation of the network and the installation of a chlorination system. Additionally, a geographical information system (GIS) will be installed along with a telecontrol system for monitoring and controlling the facilities.

There will be two customer service offices, one in the city centre and another in the La Antilla area along the coast, which experiences a large increase in the tourist population during the summer.
