Corus provides building envelope solution for steel storage unit

Corus Panels and Profiles, part of the pre-finished steel producer Corus, has supplied 10,400m2 of Trisomet 333 System - its new insulated composite roofing system – for delivery of Rainham Steel's new steel storage facility in Scunthorpe. The new steel storage unit has the capacity to hold 75,000 tonnes of steel – enabling Rainham Steel to more efficiently service the UK, European and world markets. Cladding contractor. L H Sleightholme used the Corus' 80mm and 60mm Trisomet 333 System for the roof and walls of the building in Corus' Colorcoat LG pre-finished steel.

Lorenz Etherington, Contracts Manager for LH Sleightholme comments: "Rainham Steel is a commercial enterprise and key to the successful delivery of this project was the need to ensure that tight construction programme was achieved. Ideally suited for fast track projects, the Corus' Trisomet 333 insulated panel system manufactured under factory controlled conditions improves the speed of construction, and allowed us to complete the building within the required timescales. Specifying Trisomet 333 System enabled us to install the building envelope substantially faster than alternative solutions available in the market – bringing significant overall cost and time savings to the project."

The Trisomet 333 System is a high performance through fix roof and wall panel comprising a Corus Colorcoat pre-finished steel external skin, zero ODP PIR insulation core and a polyester coated steel internal liner. The product offers both excellent thermal and air tightness performance, with the additional assurance of long term durability afforded by Corus' Colorcoat LG pre-finished steel external skin.

Mark Clemson, Commercial Director – Building Envelope, Corus Panels and Profiles: "Performing to the highest standards of thermal performance and air-tightness, specifying Trisomet 333 System can enable a finished building to achieve an air tightness performance as low as 3m³/hr/m² as well as a BREEAM excellent rating. Furthermore, with its environmentally friendly zero ODP insulation core, the Trisomet 333 System can be fully recycled once the building reaches the end of its useful lifespan – properties which contribute to making this one of the most sustainable building envelope systems currently available on the market."
