Bovis Lend Lease to construct Gold Coast University Hospital

A new hospital for the Gold Coast is a step closer with the State Government announcing Bovis Lend Lease, a subsidiary of Australian building contractor Lend Lease Corp, as Managing Contractors for construction of the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Bovis Lend Lease had been appointed to manage stage two of the construction of the new $1.76 billion hospital. The project, due for completion in 2012, would deliver a brand new 750 bed hospital and new health services for the Gold Coast.

Work is now well underway on the site at Parklands, which will see the new hospital become the focus of an expanded network of health services for the Gold Coast, including the redeveloped Robina Hospital, the Carrara Health Centre and community based services.

A range of new services will be available at the Gold Coast University Hospital, including radiotherapy, neurosciences, a 14 cot neonatal intensive care unit, high level trauma response including helicopter retrieval and rooftop helipad, and cardiac surgery.
