Panattoni completes huge distribution facility for Whirlpool

Whirlpool Corp is moving into a recently completed 914,000 square foot distribution facility in Frederickson, Washington, one of the largest buildings in the state. It is a finalist for the NAIOP Industrial Development of the Year Award for 2009.

Panattoni Development Company, Inc. will be seeking a LEED Gold designation for the project. If achieved, it will be one of the first industrial buildings in the entire state to receive this designation. The massive building is on a 50 acre rail served site, with excellent access to I-5 and SR 512.

Panattoni has incorporated a number of "green" design elements into the design and construction of the facility. These include an energy manufacturing system, daylight harvesting system, exemplary performance in water use reduction, a 21% reduction in energy consumption, 36% use of recycled materials and 25% use of regional materials. Panattoni Construction, Inc. was the General Contractor. The architect was Ware Malcomb.
