Flatiron bridge and rail projects win industry awards

Flatiron, one of the largest bridge and infrastructure contractors in the U.S., has secured an impressive six industry awards this month. The American Society of Civil Engineers, in an effort to distinguish unique contributions to the construction industry, recognized the new I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis, Minn. as a finalist in the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Awards - one of the highest honors given by the society.

The California Department of Transportation recognized a team of people from District 4 and contractor firms Flatiron and Granite, with a Partnering in Motion Award for best exemplifying the principles of partnering. The bronze award recognized their successful partnership on the Interstate 880/Route 92 interchange reconstruction in Alameda County.

Flatiron was also a finalist for the Associated General Contractors of California Excellence in Partnering award for its work on the Sprinter Rail Line, a new 22-mile commuter rail line in Oceanside Calif.

The new Pacific Street Bridge, built by Flatiron, won the ASCE San Diego Section's Outstanding Project, presented on May 16 in San Diego. Flatiron projects have won a total of 19 industry awards this year.
