| Schindler reports strong operational performance Although the economic situation deteriorated further, in the first quarter of 2009 the Schindler Group, Swiss elevator and escalator maker, succeeded in clearly improving its operational performance. The consolidated operating profit (EBIT) increased by 22.2% from the same period last year to CHF 259 million.
