Thyssenkrupp wins Elevator World Project of the Year awards

ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the world's premier manufacturer, installer and service provider of vertical and horizontal transportation technology, has been recognized with Elevator World's Project of the Year awards in three categories.

In the automatic people mover category, the Shopping Centre in Cinisello Balsamo near Milan, Italy was recognized. In the inclined elevator category, the Urban Renovation of Río de la Pila and Prado de San Roque Project in Santander, Spain was honored. And the Terreiro do Paço subway station in Lisbon, Portugal received the new installation escalators award.

The new shopping center of Cinisello Balsomo has the greatest concentration of moving walks in Northern Italy with 52 moving walks that have the capacity to transport 6, 750 people per hour. ThyssenKrupp supplied all 52 installations, as well as the center's 20 5-story elevators.

The inclined elevator at Río de la Pila in Spain provides access between the city center and the higher areas of Santander. The inclined elevator is a means of transportation that is more ecological than roads. The elevator travels at one meter per second and spans a distance of 71.74 meters and a height of 38.06 meters.

In the Terreiro do Paço subway station, two sets of four escalators were installed, each with the capacity to transport 11, 700 passengers per hour and travel at a velocity of 0.65 meters per second. The escalators were built to improve passenger circulation between the different levels of the station. The station serves 20 million passengers a year.
