Turner to construct replacement hospital for UMCP at Princeton

Turner Construction Company, the largest builder of healthcare facilities in the United States, has been selected to construct a $441 million replacement hospital for University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP) in Plainsboro Township, N.J.

The scope of work includes construction of a 269-bed replacement hospital with 10 surgical suites, full-service diagnostics, cardiac labs, radiation oncology with linear accelerators and related ancillary and support space. In the next three years, over 7.2 million pounds of structural steel will be erected to construct the 636,000 sq. ft. replacement hospital.

The new facility will integrate evidence-based design to help facilitate the healing process. When visitors come to the facility, they will enter a main concourse that leads into the various portals known as "Centers of Care" that focus on specific clinical specialties.
