Exclusive glittering world

More than a thousand light diodes encased in glass and reflective walls made of color effect glass that shimmers in gold adorn the Monte Laa Casino, located on the hill with the same name at the Bohemian Prater in Vienna. These specialized glasses from SCHOTT compete with the 283 gambling machines for attention. The C4 Projektgesellschaft m.b.H. managed by Christian Cumpelik designed the prestigious Casino for the Austrian company Novomatic AG, one of the world's largest casino operators and manufacturers of gambling machines. The customer placed particular importance on quality and exclusive design: 48 glassy sheets with over 1,000 white "LightPoints" supplied by the glass specialists, SCHOTT and lif GmbH, were used in the balustrades and handrails.

This specialized glass is known for its coating that is capable of conducting electricity and, thus, supplying the LEDs with power, yet contains no wiring. "With 'LightPoints', we succeeded in creating a unique atmosphere inside the Casino that is completely unmatched," says LED specialist Michael Hohl, Managing Director of Elektro Neon Elger. The light diodes surrounded by glass serve as "floating" light points that accompany the guests across two different floors to the various casino levels.

Wall decorations in color shades ranging from gold to lemon yellow can be seen glowing here, because several hundred square meters of "Narima" color effect glass from SCHOTT serve as reflective surfaces. The unique interference layers produce a rainbow effect. Depending on the incidence of light and where the viewer is standing, the glass plays a different game with color.
