Renovation and modernisation at BAU 2009

For the construction industry renovation and modernisation (R&M) work plays an ever greater role. At BAU 2009, this whole subject will be dealt with in depth and from a practitioner´s point of view, in a forum called 'Renovation and Modernisation'.

The forum takes place on all the days of the fair. It aims to encourage concerted development of future-oriented solutions. The programme for the forum is extensive and diverse. On the first and second days of the fair, for example, the focus is on the life cycle of buildings and practical day-to-day construction issues. Apart from lectures on the use of geothermal heat and on how to avoid building defects, there will also be presentations of products for use in R&M work. Energy is the core theme on days three and four, with the emphasis initially on materials used for the building envelope, photovoltaics and energy management. Following this there is practical advice and information on buildings diagnosis, the EnEv 2009 energy-saving regulations and façade joint detailing. The Thursday morning (15 January) is all about new products; in the afternoon, for example, visitors can find out all about insulation of buildings, and insurance for the construction industry.

On the last two days of the fair – Friday, 16 and Saturday, 17 January – researchers and lecturers will be taking a look at the future of the construction industry, and also at population trends and what residential needs people will have in the future.

Organising this forum, along with BAKA, is Messe München GmbH and the German Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS).
