Hitachi's two new SDS plus Lithium Ion cordless rotary hammers

Hitachi Power Tools introduced two new SDS plus Lithium Ion cordless rotary hammers: the DH18DL (see picture) and DH25DAL. The 18-volt DH18DL is a compact and powerful addition to Hitachi's 18V interchangeable battery platform. The DH25DAL is powered by a 25.2-volt battery that is 35% lighter than competitive 36-volt batteries. In addition to advanced lithium ion battery technology, these hammers are packed with features to maximize durability, user comfort and convenience including dual speed modes, idle strike restrictors, tool-less chucks, and accessible carbon brushes.

Both the DH18DL and DH25DAL SDS Plus cordless rotary hammers feature factory set slip clutches that protect the user and the gears in the event of a bound bit, while the idle strike restrictors prevents no-load hammering to eliminate unnecessary wear on integral parts.

Both hammers also feature two step speed switches. The power mode delivers fast and efficient drilling in large diameter drilling applications. The save mode conserves battery power and prevents the bending of smaller diameter bits. The quick bit insert chucks allows for rapid changing of accessories, saving time and energy.

Hitachi's advanced lithium ion battery charging technology provides overcharge, over-discharge and over-current protection, ensuring longer battery life.

DH18DL 18V Lithium-Ion Cordless SDS Plus Rotary Hammer

Designed to drill holes for the installation of concrete anchors, the DH18DL weighs over 25% less than competitive models making it ideal for overhead drilling. At 5.1lbs, this 18V cordless 2-mode rotary hammer is the newest addition to Hitachi's 18V lithium ion battery platform delivering a longer run time, a lighter weight tool and more charges over the life of the battery. In addition the tool is interchangeable with all Hitachi 18V lithium ion, NiCd and NiMH batteries for even more flexibility across the cordless line. It delivers 0-750/-1, 500 RPMs/minute and 0-3, 100/-6, 200 BPMs/minute for optimal performance.

Using an electro-pneumatic mechanism to produce 1-ft/lb of impact energy, the DH18DL can drill up to 105 holes on one charge (1/4" dia. x 1-1/4" depth). A convenient 5-position belt hook with integrated LED light can be positioned to illuminate dimly lit workspaces when needed. The belt hook may be mounted on either side of the tool to accommodate left and right handed users.

Externally accessible carbon brushes are easy to replace for quick tool maintenance preventing motor damage and prolonging service life. The DH18DL comes with two 18Volt 3.0Ah lithium ion batteries, a 45 minute charger, side handle, depth gauge and an injection molded carrying case. Also available is the DH18DLP4; tool body only (sold without the battery). The DH18DLP4 tool body is compatible with all Hitachi Lithium Ion, NiCd and NiMH 18V batteries.

DH25DAL 25.2V Lithium-Ion Cordless SDS Plus Rotary Hammer

Designed to tackle a variety of drilling and chiseling tasks from anchor drilling to tile removal, the DH25DAL weighs nearly 20% less than leading 36V models allowing for greater control and less user fatigue without sacrificing performance. Hitachi's HXP lithium ion batteries are up to 40% lighter than traditional 24-V NiCd and NiMH batteries and up to 35% lighter than competitive 36V batteries. At 7.9lbs, this 25.2V cordless 3-mode rotary hammer offers greater versatility with the option to drilling only, hammer only or hammer/drill. It delivers 0-550/-1, 100 RPMs/minute and 0-2, 250/0-4, 500 BPMs/minute for optimal results.

Producing 2.1-ft/lbs of impact energy, the DH25DAL can drill at speeds up to 17.3in/minute with a ½" diameter bit, chisel up to 1.23 lb/min and drill approximately 59 holes per charge (5/8" dia. x 1-3/8" depth). Auto-stop carbon brushes prevent motor damage and prolong service life. The DH25DAL comes with two 25.2Volt 3.0Ah lithium ion batteries, a 1-hour charger, side handle, depth gauge and injection molded carrying case.
