Hitachi introduces two new ZW wheel loaders

Hitachi has introduced two new models to further strengthen its popular ZW wheel loader line-up. The ZW140 and ZW150 join the ZW180, ZW220, ZW250 and ZW310, which have already made a significant impact in the key European markets. Hitachi engineers have used their vast experience and unrivalled expertise to extend the range of wheel loaders to complement the established Zaxis-3 excavators. The market-leading technology at their disposal has enabled them to set ground-breaking standards of performance and productivity.

In developing the ZW140 and ZW150, Hitachi has focused on innovative and unique product features, which have already become synonymous with the ZW series. As a result, these new models have been attributed with benefits of better performance, ultimate comfort and safety, and reduced running costs.

Hitachi has equipped the ZW140 and ZW150 with powerful yet economical and durable engines. The 96 and 107 kW engines - for the ZW140 and ZW150 respectively - help to reduce fuel consumption and increase productivity across a wide range of job sites. Operators will find the new machines to be highly efficient due to an innovative hydraulic drive system - the Hydro-Static Transmission (HST). The HST offers greater mobility when fully loaded, smoother control on a gradient and under acceleration and deceleration. These benefits are achieved thanks to the two-motor HST system which allows greater operating efficiency from powerful traction at low speed, to a maximum velocity of 39km/h.

In addition, the HST system's speed selector provides a range of four maximum travel speeds to suit the particular requirements of each job. Furthermore, when the first range is selected, the maximum speed can be adjusted to four incremental levels, which increase efficiency and simplify operation in confined spaces.

The ZW140 and ZW150's Optimum Traction Force can also be set to increase efficiency. The new models offer four work modes that can be selected according to the needs of the job and operator preference. The electronic matching control - originally developed as an industry first - senses the hydraulic pressure and controls traction force which optimises productivity while keeping tyre wear-and-tear and fuel consumption to a minimum.

The cab of the ZW140 and ZW150 has been developed with the operator in mind. All controls, switches and pedals are ergonomically designed and positioned for ease of use. Everything is at the operator's fingertips with the option of a multi-function joystick or double lever.

The cab is spacious and more comparable to that of a larger Hitachi wheel loader. Its fully adjustable air suspension seat and tilted steering column provide comfortable and variable working conditions.

Enlarged windows and generous rear view mirrors give excellent all-round visibility, allowing the operator to directly see the movements of the bucket for safer operation and increased loading efficiency.

Any shocks and vibrations are absorbed by the well-sealed, dampened cab, which also helps to reduce resonance and offers lower noise levels. Operators also benefit from an air-conditioned environment and hollow resin roof, which helps to prevent fluctuations in temperature.

Running and maintenance costs are greatly reduced due to easily accessible inspection points and more durable components. The ZW140 and ZW150 wheel loaders benefit from durable components like HN bushings, axles, transmission and brakes. The new HN bushings increase lubrication intervals from 100 to 500 hours, helping to extend service intervals and reduce downtime.

The throttle limit helps to reduce fuel consumption by up to 12 per cent when the maximum speed is lowered by ten per cent. The cooling system features a hydraulically operated cooling fan which adjusts according to the fluid temperature, ultimately reducing fuel consumption.
