ACO backflow valves

ACO Building Drainage, the built environment division of drainage specialist ACO Technologies, has launched its latest range of valves designed to prevent flooding into private or commercial premises resulting from sewer backflows. The ACO JUNIOR and TRIPLEX models are suitable for grey water applications and QUATRIX models specifically for black water applications and are all designed for simple installation, reliable operation, easy maintenance and long life.

All ACO backflow valves offer dependable flood protection. Designed in accordance to BS EN 13564, they feature two closure devices so that backflow is prevented even if one device fails to close due to the presence of detritus build-up. The manually operated emergency device incorporated into the second flap enables the pipe system to be shut off in emergencies or long periods of building non-use.

The ACO Junior combined drainage gully and backflow valve is ideal for utility rooms, basements or plant rooms in new-build or refurbishment projects. Connecting to 110 mm diameter drain pipe it is extremely versatile, featuring an optional 50 mm diameter back inlet for connection to an appliance, shower or basin.

ACO TRIPLEX and QUATRIX backflow valves are for grey water and black water applications respectively. Both systems are lightweight and accommodate 110 mm and 160 mm diameter drain pipes. Additionally, both systems are available with or without factory fitted access chambers for quick and easy installation as an alternative to site-built brick access chambers.

Featuring a high torque dc motor drive, QUATRIX models ensure reliable operation even in the most polluted black water conditions. Activated by a pressure sensor located in the valve body, the powered motorised flap closes automatically in the presence of a backflow and opens when the backflow abates. The remotely located control box provides visual and audible indication of backflow and valve status at all times. In the event of mains power failure, a battery back-up facility ensures reliable operation for 24 hours until mains power is restored.

Rated at IP67, the QUATRIX motor/valve body can be used reliably in locations that are susceptible to storm water flooding as all electrical connections remain unaffected. The IP56 rated control box is ideal for use in basements, utility rooms and plant room locations. Passive contacts are provided for easy connection to Building Management Systems further enhancing installation surveillance.
