Leighton Asia awarded contract in Mongolia

Leighton Asia has secured a mining contract for the Ukhaakhudag coal mine project in Mongolia. This contract for the mine start-up and box cut for the Ukhaakhudag coal mine is Leighton's first project in Mongolia.

Leighton established its office in Ulaanbaatar in August 2007 and has developed a working relationship with Energy Resources LLC, the owner of the Ukhaakhudag coal deposit which sits adjacent to the world renowned Tavan Tolgoi deposit in the South Gobi region of Mongolia some 200 kilometres from the China border and 540 kilometres from Ulaanbaatar.
