OCI to cooperate with BHK

Orascom Construction Industries (OCI), Egypt's largest builder by market value, said on Wednesday that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Babcock-Hitachi K.K. (BHK) of Japan for future cooperation on the design, manufacture and erection of Super Critical Technology Boilers for power projects in Egypt with a potential expansion in the North Africa and Middle East regions.

OCI, in collaboration with BHK, is targeting to actively participate in the Egyptian Electricity plan of new Super Critical Power Plants starting by bidding on the new Ain Sokhna 2 x 650 MW Power Plant, the first of such plants in Egypt. The boilers will be manufactured in OCI's facilities at National Steel Fabrication (NSF) and the recently acquired IBSF. The OCI-BHK partnership will maximize the locally fabricated component of Super Critical Boilers to meet the demand and plans set by the Ministry Of Electricity and Energy.
