Costain secures £80 million retail contract in Newbury

British engineering firm Costain has been awarded an £80 million contract by Standard Life Investments to construct a new high quality retail led mixed use development in Parkway, Newbury, West Berkshire. The contract is part of an extensive regeneration project for the town centre and is expected to be completed in 2010.

The works, which are due to start on 29 September 2008, comprise the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a major mixed use retail development that will significantly enhance Newbury town centre. The contract will also see the construction of a two level basement car park and new linkages between Northbrook Street and Victoria Street at ground level.
