PERI: customised system solutions for complex requirements

The "Temple of Divine Providence" is considered as the most important ecclesiastical building of the last three centuries in Poland. In the south of Warsaw on an area of about 6 hectares, the so-called "Temple" is currently being developed with planned total costs of around 30 million euros. This sum has been met to a large extent through private donations. The impressive building is based on a 84 m x 84 m base area in the form of a Greek cross – a cross with four equally long arms. After completion, the building will have an overall height of around 75 metres. 26 columns are arranged in a circle to form the nave of the church which has a 68 m diameter.

For the successful completion of such a complex structure, main contractor – Z. Marcinak S.A. – can rely on a comprehensive formwork and scaffolding solution provided by PERI. In particular, the nave of the church is a tremendous challenge for everyone involved: not only from the geometrical point of view but also statically. This has resulted in the very unusual solutions being developed in close cooperation and implemented on site accordingly with PERI support.

For the reinforcement work as well as forming operations, safe working platforms were provided with the help of the PERI UP Rosett scaffolding system. This means that the reinforcement can be installed safely and accurately in advance also at large heights. In combination with HD 200 heavy-duty props, the modular scaffold can be used extremely versatilely, also as shoring for the beams and intermediate slabs at heights of 24 metres. In the process, the L-shaped outer ring is supported on 80 x 80 cm reinforced concrete columns. These are constructed using a PERI TRIO and KG of climbing formwork solution in concreting cycle heights of 7.50 metres.

The internal row of columns consists of 26 diagonally-arranged columns with changing cross-sections and varying inclinations. These form the supporting structure for the dome and are connected with each other at a height of 59 metres. Halfway up, an all-round peripheral tie beam provides sufficient stability. Until the inherent stability of the structure has been reached, a 20-metre high steel construction with a diameter of 33.50 m has been installed by the contractor and is being used to transfer the horizontal forces.

For forming the reinforced concrete columns, TRIO TRS column elements together with accurately dimensioned pre-assembled box-outs are used. At the same time, PERI UP Rosett modular scaffold provides safe working conditions for forming operations and reinforcement work. Due the modular structure and the metric grid design of its length, width and height, the scaffold can be optimally adapted during assembly to the building and steel construction geometries. With the PERI concept, four columns can be reinforced, formed and concreted simultaneously – a fast, reliable and safe solution.

A big advantage is the fact that with its broad range of equipment and systems, PERI can provide the optimal solution in each case for all requirements. Within the comprehensive formwork and scaffolding concept, PERI TRIO panel formwork and VARIO GT 24 girder formwork contribute to the construction of the shear walls. PERI RUNDFLEX is the most cost-effective solution for the different wall radii and the PERI MULTIFLEX girder slab formwork is sufficiently flexible and adaptable to deal with all slab thicknesses.
