Thick film coating system for use in hurricane zones

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) LLC announced that its Baytec SPR 185A FR thick film coating system has been certified by the Miami-Dade County Building Code Compliance Office for use as a roofing material in a high-velocity hurricane zone. This versatile spray system, which has been formulated specifically to protect metal or concrete industrial roof systems, was among the proven polyurethane coatings systems BMS highlighted at the recent 2008 Paint and Coatings Expo.

"Contractors and applicators looking for a long-lasting spray coating system that can take what Mother Nature dishes out can rely on Baytec SPR 185A FR thick film coating," said Mike Hurley, development scientist, BMS, who notes that the spray system combines durability, flexibility and rapid cure to create a monolithic seamless roof coating that provides exceptional protection against leaks, weathering and foot traffic. "We are pleased that this proven spray system has met the rigorous requirements for a roof covering material as set forth by the Miami-Dade County Building Code Compliance Office."

In fact, Baytec SPR polyurethane systems have been approved by a variety of federal, state and local authorities as well as civil engineering and consulting firms in the U.S. and worldwide. For example, the Baytec SPR 185A FR thick film coating system recently passed Underwriters Laboratories Inc.'s UL790 test for fire resistance of roof covering materials.
