New apartment block in Barcelona

Tribusa, a Spanish building developer, has completed a new apartment block in Barcelona. The building, occupying a tight urban site, is a particularly interesting example of how to use brightly coloured Trespa Meteon cladding panels for a smaller residential project. The facade of the 3-storey apartments is clad with 206 sqm of Trespa Meteon. The drama of the building results from the architect's stunning colour combination of different Meteon panels in deep purple and blue. Depth and interest are added by recessing some of the panels to counter-balance small projecting balconies. The result is a bright jewel that sparkles in an otherwise plain urban environment.

Architect Carles Francesch de Herralde specified the panels for their well-proven long life performance and because they retain their appearance over many years. Another important consideration was the fact that they are largely self-cleansing which means maintenance and manual cleaning can be minimised in the restricted street.
