Pöyry buys 67 per cent of Philippine company

Finland's Pöyry has expanded its presence in the water and environment market in Asia by acquiring 67 per cent of the shares of IDP Consult Incorporated. IDP is a consulting company based in Manila, Philippines serving mainly international donors such as the Asian Development Bank and World Bank in technical assistance projects in the water sector. With net sales of EUR 0.8 million in 2006 the company employs about 30 experts.

Established in Manila in 1996 by a group of management consultants in the water supply sector IDP has since expanded their services to numerous countries in Asia. The company is specialised in advising governments in Asia on policy development, institutional strengthening and financial engineering in the water and utility sector. These services complement Pöyry's more technically oriented activities with the same clientele head. IDP will be consolidated into Pöyry as of January 1, 2008.
