Ramboll and Atkins win contract in Copenhagen

A consortium with Rambøll and Atkins as participants will be responsible for consultancy on the transport system package for the new Copenhagen Metro city Circle line owned by the Ørestad Development Corporation. The consortium formed by Rambøll and Atkins will be responsible for solving the technical aspects of the railway works on the Metro city circle line. The City circle line includes a 15.5 line underneath the inner city of Copenhagen, and the construction of 17 new metro stations. The total value of the project amounts to 15 billion DKK which makes it one of the biggest railway projects on Danish soil.

Rambøll has gained massive experience in the driverless and fully automatic system through its deep involvement in the construction of railways on phase 1, 2, and 3 of the current Copenhagen Metro line.

In supplement to Rambøll, Atkins will contribute with its global knowledge on metros obtained from projects in capitals in most parts of the world, as well as specialist knowledge from the two sub-contractors, the Danish architects KHR Arkitekter A/S and the British company Parsons Group.

In 2018, when the City Circle Line is completed, it will represent one of the most advanced transport systems in the world. Based on the principles from the existing metro, people living in Copenhagen and other travelers will have at their disposal an efficient and sturdy transport system connecting the city regardless of weather conditions and other traffic.
