ThyssenKrupp Elevator wins contract for New York Mets stadium

ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the world's premier manufacturer, installer and service provider of vertical and horizontal transportation technology, was awarded the exclusive contract to install ten Tugela Outdoor escalators at Citi Field in New York.

Scheduled to be completed by Opening Day 2009, Citi Field will be the world-class home for the New York Mets baseball team. ThyssenKrupp Elevator began work on the escalator project in August 2007.

The escalator technology featured at Citi Field will include a glass balustrade design as well as three flat steps for all escalators. ThyssenKrupp Elevator will provide all the exterior cladding in 304 stainless steel. The engineering team was able to create innovate trust design to accommodate the new facility.

The Tugela Outdoor escalator, a heavy-duty traffic model, features reduced energy consumption and environmental protection features. ThyssenKrupp Elevator has experienced great success with the escalator system in the New York region.

Citi Field was designed by the architects of HOK Sport. The stadium has natural grass and a seating capacity of approximately 45,000.
