Baker appoints new vice president

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has announced that Christine S. Mayernik has been appointed vice president-linear utilities and business development. In this new position, Mayernik will apply her program management and business and market development skills in the company's pipelines, power and utilities markets, as well as with a broad array of clients in the local Pittsburgh and Allegheny County region.

She joined Baker in 2002 and has been instrumental in securing several program management and technical services contracts in the pipeline and linear utility service segment. Previously, from 1999 to 2002, she served as an independent consultant for the Pennsylvania Attorney General on issues related to the provision of natural gas services to consumers, and prior to that she was vice president of customer service for The Peoples Natural Gas Company, providing senior-level management and strategic direction for development of the programs, policies and procedures of customer service and related functions.
