Granite Construction awarded $24 million project by Caltrans

Granite Construction Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Granite Construction Incorporated, announced that its Nevada Operations has been awarded a $24 million highway reconstruction project by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

The project encompasses a three-mile reconstruction of Interstate 80 near the California-Nevada border. Details include construction of a new concrete roadway in the exact alignment of the current roadway, as well as grading, drainage, and leveling to provide wider shoulders along the roadway. Granite's Lockwood Quarry will supply a total of 40,000 tons of hot mix asphalt for this job. A portable concrete plant from Granite's Bartholomew Concrete Paving company will produce 40,000 cubic yards of concrete paving.
Work on the project will begin in April 2008 and is estimated to be complete in September 2009.
