Fugro Seacore wins contract in France

Fugro Seacore has been awarded the contract to construct an offshore cooling water shaft for the prestigious Flamanville EPR 3 nuclear facility near Cherbourg in Normandy, France. The works are part of a sub contract with Soletanche-Bachy France for Electricité de France (EDF). The EUR 15 million contract will involve Fugro Seacore drilling a 5.85m diameter shaft 65m deep in metamorphic limestone. The work will be carried out from Fugro Seacore's jack-up barge 'Excalibur' using reverse circulation pile top drill to create the shaft.
