Barratt named preferred developer in Camp Hill regeneration

Britain's biggest housebuilder Barratt has won preferred developer status in the £125 million redevelopment of the Camp Hill estate in Nuneaton. The project, which represents Phase Three of the Pride in Camp Hill regeneration project, will involve building 844 new homes on a challenging sloping site.

Phase Three is the largest contract to be awarded from the Pride in Camp Hill project which is set to transform what was one of the most deprived wards in the country.

The work to be completed by Barratt – which is expected to start in 2008 - is one part of the entire regeneration of the former mining area. Pride in Camp Hill has already overseen the building of 172 new homes by Lovell in Phase One of the project and the opening of a £2 million community building. Work is also taking place in Phase Two to complete nine retail units and 230 new homes as part of a project to complete a new thriving village centre.
