Hochtief continues its series of PPP schools contracts in the UK

Subsidiary Hochtief PPP Solutions (UK) Ltd., on behalf of the West Lothian Council in Scotland, will finance and build two new schools in the region and operate them for a period of 30 years. Hochtief PPP Solutions holds a 50 percent stake in the project company, HDM Schools Solutions Ltd. The other partners are Dawn Construction Ltd. (25 percent) and Pacific Partners LLP (25 percent). The project company will invest about GBP 60 million (EUR 90 million) in construction works. The project represents a contract volume of more than GBP 274 million (EUR 400 million).

The existing buildings of Armadale Academy and Deans Community High School will be demolished and replaced with modern buildings which will accommodate more than 2,300 pupils. The schools will be enhanced by a wide range of new facilities including additional classrooms, games hall, fitness rooms, dance studios, swimming pools and full size all-weather synthetic pitches. Work on the two schools will commence in August 2007 and is scheduled for completion in August 2009.

Hochtief's portfolio now comprises 88 schools in Germany, the UK and Ireland, serving a total of almost 59,000 pupils.
