Hochtief wins PPP project in Frankfurt am Main

Hochtief PPP Solutions will design, finance, build and operate four schools in Frankfurt am Main on the basis of a public-private partnership (PPP) contract. The contract with a 20-year term represents a volume of approximately EUR 260 million. Hochtief invests some EUR 106 million into the construction measures.

The project comprises the refurbishment of two schools as well as the construction of a school and a center for education and culture. The latter also houses the Volkshochschule adult education institute and the district library. On total, some 5,500 students receive teaching at the four locations.

Calculations prepared by the Frankfurt am Main authorities say that thanks to the PPP solution, the city will save some 15 percent of the costs it would have incurred if it had opted for tackling the task all by itself.
