Fluor awarded Grupa LOTOS contract in Gdansk, Poland

Engineering and construction giant Fluor Corporation announced that it was awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services to build utilities and off-sites for the Grupa LOTOS Comprehensive Technical Upgrade Program in Gdansk, Poland. The contract value for Fluor is more than EUR 200 million (US $275.3 million) and was booked during second quarter 2007. Grupa LOTOS is Poland's second-largest oil refiner and retailer.

Initial project work has begun and construction is slated to begin in February 2008 with a February 2010 completion. The budget exceeds half million man-hours. Engineering and procurement services will be performed by Fluor offices in Gliwice and Haarlem, The Netherlands. From 1995-'98 Fluor Gliwice and Haarlem performed a similar job for Grupa LOTOS.

The contract is under execution as part of the development strategy of Grupa Kapitalowa LOTOS S.A. which provides for the construction of utilities and off-sites under the Comprehensive Technical Upgrade Program. The program objective is to increase the throughput capacity of the Gdansk refinery by approximately 75 percent, to 10.5 million tons of crude oil annually, with a higher conversion ratio.
