Huaibei Cement CDM Project receives Japanese government approval

Yokohama-based JGC Corporation announced that the Huaibei Cement CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) Project in China has been sanctioned by the Japanese government, as the investor country, following its April 2nd approval by the Chinese government, as the host country. This project is being carried out at the site of a plant belonging to Huaibei Cement Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Huaibei Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. in Huaibei city, Anfui Province, China. The project involves the construction of a power generation facility (4.5MW) which utilizes low-temperature waste heat recovery systems that make use of waste heat from kilns in the cement plant. JGC will purchase CDM emission credits equivalent to a total of 22,000 tons of CO2 annually from Huaibei Cement.
