European Solar Energy Conference & Exhibition in Milan

The European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, which is supported by the European Commission, UNESCO, the Italian Government as well as industrial organisations and other agencies, is held every year in a different European country. The host this year is Milan, Italy. Over 3,000 experts and decision makers from industry, research and politics from over 75 countries are expected to meet from 3–7 September.

Drastically increasing costs for oil and gas have made the limited availability of fossil fuels clear to a wide section of the public. Burning fossil fuels to produce power is increasingly being seen as an anachronism. One alternative is photovoltaics - the direct transformation of the sun's rays into electrical energy.

This situation forms the backdrop for the 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, which will be taking place in Milan from 3–7 September. It is organised by WIP-Renewable Energies, the Munich based project developer, which has been organising the Conference and Exhibition, known within the branch as the EU PVSEC, since 1986.

Following the quality conclusions of the abstract review process, the international Programme Committee made up of representatives from research, industry and politics put together an excellent program of around 1.000 plenary, oral and visual poster presentations. Parallel to the Conference, around 450 international exhibitors from industry and research will be showing the latest developments and solutions in solar power generation, in an exhibition space of over 30,000 sqm. This year's EU PVSEC is therefore the biggest international meeting of solar power researchers, manufacturers, distributors, project developers and consumers ever held.
