CEDINSA builds Eix Transversal road

The Catalonia Regional Government has awarded CEDINSA, a company headed by FCC and Caixa Catalunya, a 35-year contract to expand and operate the Eix Transversal road, which will connect the cities of Lleida and Girona, bypassing Barcelona. The project involves doubling the number of lanes on the C-35, a road measuring 150.6 kilometres that links the A-2 highway at Cervera (Lleida) with the same A-2 highway in Caldes de Malavella (Girona).

The bid to build the new lanes and refurbish the existing road surface amounts to 708.3 million euro (this figure refers solely to construction and does not include operating costs). The work is expected to be completed in 36 months.
