Poyry acquires Evata Worldwide

Poyry's Infrastructure & Environment business group has expanded its operations by acquiring 70 per cent of the shares of Evata Worldwide Oy, a Finnish architectural design and real estate consulting firm. Evata employs about 100 experts in its headquarters in Helsinki, and in offices in Tallinn, Estonia, and Beijing, China. It also has a representative office in St. Petersburg, Russia. The company's annual net sales are about EUR 8 million and its business is profitable.

Established in 1961, Evata Worldwide Oy is Finland's leading architectural design firm. Evata offers architectural and interior design, workplace design, office property consulting and services related to real estate development. The company's core architectural design services cover business space and office buildings, sports and leisure venues and industrial facilities.

Evata Worldwide Oy will become part of the Poyry Group's Real Estate and Telecom business area. Evata's management and other personnel will transfer to Poyry under their original terms of employment. The deal includes an option for acquiring the remaining 30 per cent of the company's shares in 2010, at the earliest.

Finland's Poyry is a global consulting and engineering firm focusing on the energy, forest industry and infrastructure and environment sectors. Poyry's net sales in 2006 amounted to about EUR 620 million and it employs 6400 experts.
