Fugro Robertson's 2007 New Ventures Survey

In this year's International New Ventures Survey, the United Kingdom leads the rankings, followed closely by 2nd and 3rd placed Egypt and Algeria. Fugro Robertson Limited's International New Ventures Survey polls oil companies involved in E&P ventures outside North America and asks them to rate, in a confidential questionnaire, their level of interest in new ventures in 152 countries.

Six African countries have made the top ten this year, while Colombia and Nigeria make their inaugural visits in 7th and 9th place, and the perennial favourite, Australia, remains firmly within the top five.

The Middle East fairs quite poorly again in this year's survey. Highest placed Qatar has risen 15 places to come in at 11th position in the World rankings. Iran, at number 32, has dropped a further 9 places, only slightly ahead of Dubai (up 10 places).

The top ten countries for 2007 are:

1. United Kingdom
2. Egypt
3. Algeria
4. Australia
5. Libya
6. Indonesia
7. Colombia and Tunisia
8. Gabon and Mauritania
9. Nigeria and Norway
10. Brazil
