Siemens to supply equipment for new cement line in Libya

The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has received an order from the German CEMAG Anlagenbau GmbH, Hameln, to supply electrical equipment for the new kiln line in the Zliten cement plant in Libya. The final customer is the Ahlia Cement Company. The order is worth around eight million euros and the new kiln line is scheduled to start operating in May 2008. The Ahlia Cement Company (AhCC) of Libya operates four cement plants with an annual capacity of approximately 3.5 million metric tons. At the Zliten location, to the east of Tripoli, CEMAG Anlagenbau GmbH is currently building a second cement kiln line for AhCC.

For the new cement kiln line as well, Siemens is supplying the electrical equipment and is also responsible for the associated plant engineering. The scope of supply includes SF6 gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgears, the main low-voltage distribution boards, power and distribution transformers, the motor control center (MCC) and also medium-voltage power factor correction equipment. The process control system, field instrumentation and special instrumentation, as well as cabling, grounding systems and the process lighting are also part of the project.
